TRAVEL HOCKEY (RMHF)
OBJECTIVE OF THE RMHF/TRAVEL PROGRAM
NCYH provides Competitive Travel Teams for ages 10U/Squirt, 12U/Peewee, 14U/Bantam. The teams compete in the Rocky Mountain Hockey Federation (RMHF), along with many other Colorado Front Range associations. Players that are selected for these teams are generally more competitive and require a larger commitment for players and parents. RMHF teams are leveled according to ability and typically practice 3-4 times a week, with 1 or 2 games on the weekends. There may be occasional weekday games for RMHF teams as well. Along with playing regular season games in the RMHF players can expect to participate in 3-4 tournaments with 1 or 2 of those tournaments requiring travel out of the state. By agreeing to participate on a competitive team players agree to attend all tournaments that the team chooses to participate in.
NCYH holds tryouts for all ages prior to the season in order to give the coaches a chance to pick their teams. Players are selected on skill and hockey knowledge, with the best players being selected to the top team in each particular age group. Once placed on a team players are expected to participate in all team functions.
Anyone interested in participating on a competitive team should be fundamentally sound and know how to skate, pass, and shoot.
Depending on participant numbers and ability level, all levels may not be available each year.
Ages level are determined by the age of the player on 12/31 of the year the season begins. Hockey levels are based off birth years. The following table provides an overview of the age divisions and levels available at NCYH.

Tryouts will begin in mid August for 14U & 12U. Tryouts for 10U will begin after Labor Day.
The season will finish at the end of February with Playoffs.
PRACTICE & GAMES
14U/12U/10U
Teams will practice 3-4 times per week, Depending on team. Teams also have an early morning practice 1-2 times per week- depending on team.
Teams will have 1 - 2 games per weekend.
GOALIE CLINIC
Goalie Clinics are offered to our NCYH goalies each Sunday morning under the tutelage of Matt Zabba.
No charge for this service.
Goalie Clinics will begin mid Sept and appear on your family calendar.

Game jerseys, breezer covers and socks will be purchased from The Stick Rack in the summer.
EXTRA COSTS - TEAM FEES
Once teams are formed your Team Manager will prepare a budget for the team to cover additional expenses the team may incur.
Additional expenses may be related to tournament registrations, coach travel expenses for out of state tournaments, team meals, etc. and requires NCYH approval prior to collection of these Team Fees.
Teams regularly fundraise to offset team expenses and team fees.
2024-2025 Youth Hockey Season Registration will open around Mid-May to Mid June. Once registration is open it will be posted to the website.
